From the Horse’s Mouth | Meeting with Farmers and Herders in Nigeria.

Last week in Ogun State, Nigeria, PeaceEye’s CEO, Andreas Papp, met directly with herder and farmer communities in their villages to discuss how technology can help prevent conflict without violence. Across Nigeria’s Middle Belt, farmer–herder conflicts are escalating, driven by climate change, land pressure, and shrinking grazing corridors.

Listening to local leaders share their daily challenges, needs, and vulnerabilities was truly inspiring. With the support of Prof. Busari and Prof. Oyedepoja from FUNAAB University, and with the trust and consent of both communities, we agreed to continue developing solutions through co-creation, with communities at the center.

Together with our academic partners (FUNAAB University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology & Akwa Ibom State University), my colleague Muyiwa Ezekiel Oshundele and I have explored what a practical, tech-based solution to prevent further violence could look like.

More details here.

We were also encouraged by the interest of the National Space Research and Development Agency National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA), as well as by religious leaders, who highlighted the importance of our neutral and impartial role in reducing tensions and strengthening relations. We’re now seeking impact-driven donors, partners, and investors to help scale this across Nigeria.

Peace starts with listening — and grows with trust through collaboration.
